Obama won the electoral college vote in many states in 2008 because progressives and young people and blacks and Latinos and women and gays and teachers and union members and environmentalists and people concerned with the corrupting influence of lobbyists and corporate money in politics turned out in record numbers. If they choose to stay home in the next presidential election, it may prove to be a very unlucky day for Barack Obama.

Obama's Three Wars

Headed toward happiness: a rainbow appeared as we were flying into St. Martin just at the beginning of our wonderful vacation in St. Barths.

On a less happy note, David Boaz notes:

...after two years in the White House he(Obama) has made both of George Bush’s wars his wars.

Candidate Obama promised to end the war in Iraq and bring our troops home. Two years into his presidency we're stil in Iraq, we have hundreds of thousands of troops in Afghanistan, and now we're bombing Libya. What happened?

So let me get this straight....

Ok, so now we are still at war in Afghanistan, in Iraq (contractors, not soldiers, just 60,000 contractors) and now we are attacking Libya? And the Republicans are cutting jobs and trying to gut the unions and sack teachers?

Please tell me that we aren't this stupid? One thing for sure: Obama has vaporized my vote for him. Not interested, been there, done that. We need someone that is angry and has some balls and brains. I'm pretty sure our executive and legislative staff is playing with "none of the above".

We need better education so we don't keep electing fuck ups. By the way, we could start by banning all of our legislators from even thinking of taking lobbying dollars. That might be a good start to pull our ass out of this rut. Make the Fed completely transparent and public as well would be a good second place.... End of rant.
