62 Years Ago Today...

...in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis performed together for the first time. They went on to become the most popular comic team during the 1950s before splitting up. They are two of my favorite performers, whether teamed up or solo. They don't make them like that anymore.

Here's another photo from the Fire Island Dance Festival. The costumes and routines are colorful and inventive.

Dieting: The "Whack-A-Mole" Effect

Do you know what the arcade game "Whack A Mole" is? Well, you get a mallet and hit little moles over the head when they pop up out of holes. Well, once you hit one, another one pops up out of another hole somewhere else. You can't get them all because another one is always popping up somewhere else.

For me, dieting is like that. If I cut down on one thing like carbs, I tend to eat more of something else, like proteins. Cut down on bread, eat more cheese. Cut down on cheese, eat more potatoes. Cut down on deserts, drink more liquor, etc. etc.

No wonder I can't lose any pounds.

Here's another pretty photo from last weekend's dance festival.

More DRA Pix!

Here's the venue, at the home of Jon Biondo and Tim Horman, in the Pines. This is a fun event to shoot, although it's a little tough to fully enjoy it while concentrating on trying to get the best shots of these often fast moving performers!

Fire Island Dance Festival In Pictures

The most spectacular and beautiful event of the summer on Fire Island. Dancers Responding To AIDS (DRA) brings so much talent to the Pines each year, and has raised well over a million dollars to fight HIV. The setting is gorgeous, with the Great South Bay as a backdrop.
