Our delightful Brand G lower Danube cruise covers five countries this week. Friday morning our boat, the Amadeus Queen, arrived in the capital of Serbia. The morning bus tour visited the fortress ruins, which have few surviving structures. Those parts still present or at least as foundations include gates, a well, a tomb and more. These were built by the Romans, Medieval princes, the conquering Turks, or occupying Austrians. Other parts of the tour included government buildings, a monument to Tito, (who ran Yugoslavia from here,) and the unfinished Orthodox church of St. Slava, founder of Serbia's national religion. Goran, our excellent guide, is featured in the photos. - Dan
